Client guide

Signing in, sharing documents, and reviewing your website with 704 Web Canvas.

This guide covers the two things you'll do most with 704 Web Services: sharing files with our team through your client portal, and leaving visual feedback on your website with 704 Web Canvas. Both take about five minutes to learn, and neither needs any software installed.

Signing in to your client portal

Your portal lives at portal.704web.com/login. We'll send you an invitation email with your sign-in details when your account is set up.

First sign-in

  1. Open the invitation email and go to portal.704web.com/login.
  2. Enter your email address and the temporary password from the email.
  3. You'll be asked to choose a new password right away. Pick something you don't use anywhere else.
  4. You'll land on this guide, then your Home page with your projects, invoices and recent files.

Forgot your password? Click Forgot password? on the sign-in page, enter your email, and follow the link we send you.

Extra security (optional). Under Security in the left-hand menu you can add an authenticator app or a passkey (Face ID, Touch ID or a security key). Once added, you'll confirm with it each time you sign in.

The left-hand menu has everything in the portal: Home, Projects, Documents, Support, Invoices, Estimates, Guide and Security. On a phone, the same links sit at the top of the page.

Sharing files and links

The Documents page is a shared folder between you and our team: any file or link you add, we see, and anything we share with you shows up there too.

To send us a file

  1. Sign in and click Documents in the left-hand menu.
  2. Under Upload a file, click the file box and choose the file from your computer or phone.
  3. Click Upload. The button shows Uploading… while it works.
  4. When it finishes, the file appears in the Shared files & links list below. Our team can see it immediately.

Upload one file at a time. For a batch of photos or assets, put them in a single .zip file first.

To share a link

Use a link for anything that isn't a file: a YouTube or Loom video, a website whose style you like, a Google Drive or Dropbox folder, or a Figma or Canva design. It's also the way to send us anything over 25 MB.

  1. On Documents, find Share a link.
  2. Paste the web address into Link.
  3. Optionally add a Title so we know what it is (“Competitor site we like”, “Product demo video”).
  4. Click Share link. It appears in the list with a link icon.

For Google Drive or Dropbox, set sharing to “anyone with the link can view” so our team can open it.

To get a file or link from us

Open Documents and find it under Shared files & links (newest first), then click Download for a file or Open link for a link.

Shared the wrong thing? Click Remove next to any file or link you added. Items we shared can only be removed by our team.

What you can upload

File typesPDF, Word (.doc, .docx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), CSV, plain text, images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF), and .zip
Size limit25 MB per file
Not acceptedVideos, design source files (.psd, .ai, .fig), and other types not listed above. Zip them first, or upload them to Google Drive or Dropbox and use Share a link.

Files are private to your company and our team. No one else can see them.

704 Web Canvas: feedback on your website

Canvas lets you click on any spot of your website and leave a comment pinned to it, instead of describing it in an email (“the second button under the photo on the About page”). Each note reaches us with a screenshot of exactly what you saw and where you clicked, plus your screen size and browser, so we can fix it without back-and-forth.

Use it for design reviews before launch, content changes (“update this phone number”), or anything that looks broken.

It's invisible to your visitors. Canvas only appears in a browser that has opened your private review link. Everyone else browsing your site sees nothing. The link works for 24 hours in that browser, or until you click End session.

How a website review works

  1. Mockup review. We email you when your mockup is ready, with a Review the mockup button. Leave your notes with Canvas. When you're happy, click Approve the mockup on your project page in the portal (or just reply to the email). Want changes you'd rather describe in words? Use Request changes on the same page, and we'll send an updated mockup to review.
  2. Draft site testing. Once the mockup is approved, we build the real site at the same address and email you a Test the draft site link. Click through every page, try the forms, check it on your phone, and leave notes the same way. Approve it or request changes from your project page, or reply to the email.
  3. Launch. After you approve the draft, we move it to your live address and email you to say the site is live.

Where to find your review link: it's the button in our review email, and it's always in your portal under Projects → your project → Review your site → Open review link. Keep it private: anyone with the link can leave notes on your site.

Leaving feedback, step by step

  1. Open your review link. Your website loads normally, with a small 704 Web Canvas panel in the bottom-right corner. The odd-looking part of the link disappears from the address bar; that's expected.
  2. Go to the page you want to comment on. Browse normally; the panel follows you to every page on the site.
  3. Click Start. The button changes to Click page….
  4. Click the exact spot you want to talk about: a heading, an image, a button, a gap. A green pin drops there.
  5. Write your note in the box that opens. Add your name and email if you'd like a reply (both optional). Be specific: “Change to ‘Free estimates’” beats “fix this”.
  6. Click Submit. You'll see Note sent. Thank you! We automatically get a screenshot with your pin on it.
  7. Repeat for as many notes as you like. Existing notes show as numbered pins, so you can see what you've already flagged.
  8. Click End session when you're done. The panel disappears and your site goes back to normal in that browser.

Changed your mind mid-pin? Cancel stops pin placement without sending anything.

Checking the mobile layout. The Preview buttons in the panel (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile) narrow the page to that screen size so you can comment on how it looks on a phone, without picking up your phone. You can also open the review link on your phone directly.

What happens next. Each note becomes a task on our board. We'll work through them and may reply or open a support ticket if we have a question.

Troubleshooting

ProblemTry this
The Canvas panel doesn't appearOpen the review link again (not a bookmark of your plain website). If it still doesn't show, it's been more than 24 hours or you clicked End session; the same link starts a new session.
"Network error" when submittingPause your ad blocker or privacy extension for your site and try again, or use a private/incognito window. Some blockers stop the note from being sent.
Panel appeared, then vanished on another pageYour site may be redirecting. Open the review link once more, then navigate from there.
Upload fails with "File exceeds 25 MB limit"Compress or zip the file, or upload it to Google Drive or Dropbox and use Share a link.
We can't open a link you sharedCheck the sharing setting in Google Drive or Dropbox is "anyone with the link can view", then share it again.
Upload says the file type isn't allowedZip the file and upload the .zip, or upload it to Google Drive or Dropbox and use Share a link.
Can't sign inUse Forgot password? on the sign-in page. If you set up an authenticator app or passkey and lost access to it, contact us and we'll reset it.
